Gerald Engström and Roland Kasper

50 years of continuity and innovation

Systemair is distinguished by a rare continuity on the stock exchange, with only two CEOs in its first 50 years – from founder Gerald Engström to current CEO Roland Kasper, who continues to lead the company with long-term vision.

At a time when changes of CEO are common among Swedish listed companies, where the average time is around 4-5 years, Systemair is an exceptional example in a positive sense. Since the company's founding in 1974, it has had only two CEOs – a rarity for companies of this size and rare on the Large Cap list. This coherent leadership has led Systemair to become one of the world's largest players in ventilation, without losing its core values.

The company's first product, a circular duct fan, was groundbreaking in its time and set the standard for energy efficiency. "The straight way forward" comes from Systemair's first product, and the motto is still as relevant as when the company was founded in Skinnskatteberg.

"I am grateful for the values that Gerald established in the company and that, as Chairman of the Board, he still believes that everything we do must be long-term," says Roland Kasper, who took over as CEO in 2015 after building up solid experience in the ventilation industry. Growing up in Frankfurt and Mannheim, in a family that worked in the industry, gave Roland an early understanding of the sector.

Systemair is currently established in 51 countries with approximately 6,600 employees and has maintained an annual growth rate of an average of 9 percent over the past ten years. The company continues to be a stable player. "When you reach a certain size like us, the challenge is how to manage your corporate culture," says Roland. "Regardless of whether you work with Systemair in the Nordic region or in Southeast Asia, you should be able to trust your colleagues, partners and us as a supplier."

For five decades, Systemair has managed to maintain the stability that many companies strive for. Roland, who has already passed the average time for a CEO, points out that: "It's about building trust and relationships that last over time – an attitude I share with Gerald," and continues: "There are few decisions in our business that are allowed to be short-term. The fact that we work long-term in terms of finances, corporate culture and vision of the future is one of the most valuable assets we can offer our investors."

In October 2024, Systemair celebrated its 50th anniversary, but for the company, it was not only a celebration of its history, but also a confirmation of a strong position for the future. "Celebrating the anniversary globally with our teams in different countries was a great experience. It shows the strong corporate culture and competence we have built together," concludes Roland, who looks forward to leading Systemair into the next chapter.
