Systemair participates in global efforts towards climate goals and improved indoor air quality

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports poor air quality as a global health risk for a large part of the world's population. Systemair's work to improve air quality has been part of the company's operations since its founding. Through its solutions for clean indoor air, Systemair addresses both acute health issues and the need for energy efficiency to meet climate goals.

"We see it as Systemair's responsibility to contribute to improving indoor air quality, while helping our customers transition towards energy efficiency and sustainability," says Roland Kasper, CEO of Systemair. "Sustainability is high on the global agenda, and the need for clean air only seems to increase. Our products will play an even greater role in the transition to future buildings and communities."

As legislation around sustainability becomes stricter, Systemair sees this as an opportunity to be a leading player in the work.

"The EU taxonomy and increasing reporting requirements are important steps forward, but they also entail increased administrative challenges, especially for companies operating in multiple countries," says Roland. He also emphasizes how global events have impacted the industry's work.

"Due to pandemics and inflation, we have lost time. If the world is to reach the climate goals for 2030 and 2050, we must collectively accelerate our efforts in the coming years." Systemair actively works in the development of certifications and international standards through participation in several industry organizations.

Sustainability as a driving force

Sustainability work at Systemair is becoming increasingly integrated into the company's various functions. Lee Morgan, Group Sustainability Director, describes their role as a driving force to gather the company's efforts. "At Systemair, we work on these issues on several fronts simultaneously – from internal training and diversity issues to technological innovation and product development. We want to build the competence needed to drive sustainability work forward in the organization's various branches. From our own footprint to how the product range can contribute to more customers' transition efforts.”

A central focus area is how Systemair can contribute to energy-efficient buildings and reduced emissions. "Ventilation, heating, and cooling account for a large part of buildings' energy needs and thus also a significant part of the world's carbon dioxide emissions. By developing solutions that reduce total energy consumption, we can make a real difference," explains Lee.

Systemair's products serve as a focal point for social and global sustainability goals. Through energy-efficient systems that improve indoor climate, the company supports its customers in their sustainability journeys. "We want to meet today's needs with products that consider future sustainability requirements. We see it as our task to actively participate in the development towards better indoor air, while also contributing to our customers' sustainability work," concludes Lee.
